Arcade Fire Finished Recording New Album, Set Sights On Major Tour

first_imgIn a recent interview with Red Bull Poland, Arcade Fire drummer Jerry Gara revealed that the band has completed the recording of their follow-up album to 2013’s Reflektor. However, the timeline for the release is not something that Gara could elaborate on, since the final mix is still being worked on:“The album should come out this year. At this stage we are still mixing and trying to decide which songs will end up on the record, because we’ve recorded more than we need. But we’re almost finished. I don’t know when it’ll come out, I hope soon. I know we’re a popular band, but we always stick to the same rule; we record until we feel that the music is ready.”Gara did reveal the the group may be preparing for a massive two-year tour, “for obvious reasons [Arcade Fire] is a very important part of my plans, and a quite mysterious one. I don’t know where we’re going to play, I don’t know when we start, or when we finish. From my perspective, it looks like Arcade Fire starts in April and finish around April 2019.”This is certainly news that should excite fans of the Canadian rockers. The group will also release The Reflektor Tapes / Live at Earls Court documentary DVD on January 27th.[via Consequence of Sound]last_img read more

Gareth Bale is not to blame for Real Madrid’s demise, according to Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino

first_img1 Gareth Bale Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino insists Gareth Bale is not the man to blame for Real Madrid’s Champions League exit and all round underwhelming season.Bale has been under increased scrutiny this season and Madrid’s European departure at the hands of Juventus further increased the pressure on the Welshman. The world’s most expensive player was culpable of squandering several gilt-edged opportunities during that 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu, but Pochettino doesn’t feel Bale is solely responsible for Madrid’s malaise.“I think Gareth Bale is not the only player responsible for what’s happening at Madrid. I think Bale is an unbelievable player but sometimes it’s not easy to score 30 or 40 goals every season,” said the Argentine.“It’s difficult for him because maybe the expectation at Real Madrid is different than at another club. It’s not easy to play for Real Madrid, especially now they have no opportunities to win the league, the Champions League or the Copa Del Rey.”Pochettino believes the £86 million former White Hart Lane man is a player that needs to feel he is the heart and soul of the team – much like he was at Tottenham – but finds it hard to assume that mantel when the whole Madrid squad is full of world-class players such as Cristiano Ronaldo. The Argentine coach added: “Bale is a player that needs to feel that the team plays for him, like Ronaldo or Messi. They are a type of player that needs to feel confident and play the way that they want to play.Sometimes that’s not easy. At Real Madrid you have a lot of big stars and it isn’t easy to settle from the first moment,” said the Argentine. It has been rumoured that Bale’s problems have stemmed from the language barrier he faces and his difficulty picking up Spanish; something which Pochettino is all too familiar with since he started managing in England.“I think it’s important [to speak the language]. It’s always difficult to adapt if you go to a new club or country but I don’t know if that affects his job or his game. It’s difficult to know from here,” said the 43-year-old.last_img read more

Madras HC moved for probe into embezzlement of volleyball

first_imgplayers allowanceChennai, Nov 2 (PTI) A senior office-bearer of the Volleyball Federation of India has moved the Madras High Court seeking a CBI probe into what he alleged embezzlement of Centres allowance to players competing in international tournaments by a top federation official. When the petition by VFI Associate Secretary K Nandakumar came up for hearing, Justice G Jayachandran directed him to file an additional affidavit mentioning the source of information about the allegations made by him.The petitioner sought a direction to the CBI deputy superintendent of police, Anti-Corruption Branch-Chennai, to register a case based on his complaint lodged in June last year.According to him, each player was given a daily allowance of USD 100 for their sustenance when they represent the country in international tournaments by the Union Sports Ministry. It was routed through the respective national sports federation.Nandakumar alleged an internal investigation and scrutiny in the VFI had revealed that federation secretary general in connivance with a former secretary general and chief executive officer had given only USD 25 to the volleyball players. He further charged that they had transferred the embezzled amount into a sham account and siphoned off the money meant for players and officials and enriched themselves by falsifying and manipulating the federation accounts.Nandakumar submitted that though it had been more than a year since he lodged the complaint, no case had been registered.
