Mango House is located in the historic downtown area of the city of Merida. It is displayed as an exemplar of “re-inhabiting” the area and recovering the habitability of a plot of land with natural elements and preexisting buildings of certain characteristics, which condition part of its continuity, expansion and presence inside its urban context and its interior.Save this picture!© Sergio RíosSave this picture!Save this picture!© Sergio RíosIts use, a residence of a temporary or extended stay, determined the conditioning factors for its “renovated use” and architectural program under certain premises during the design process and detailing of the executive architectural project.Making emphasis and considering the public life of the house as a priority, the spaces destined for these activities take advantage of the spatial qualities and relationships as well as interior-exterior views as an experience of spatial continuity. This is obtained through large windows that allow adequate management of natural light.Save this picture!© Sergio RíosThe architectural program is organized and distributed in two levels. This is due to the fact that it responds to the spatial distribution and optimal conditions that are required. On the first level, a terrace manifests a connection between the urban environment and the building. The entrance to the residence is through a first block that includes a vestibule and bedrooms. Once past that first block, immediately one goes through a second transition block where one can experience the sensation of “looking at the sky and opening up to it”, which is why this area becomes the “heart of the residence”. Next up, in a third block, the public interior (living room-dining room and kitchen) and at the end, a fourth block: the public exterior (terrace and swimming pool) which is where one finds the natural element: a mango tree, which becomes the emblem and gives the project its name: “Mango House”.Save this picture!© Sergio RíosOn the second level, one can find the main bedroom. The design solution is solved with a wide block that embraces the exterior and its natural elements. The main connection and spatial continuity is through windows and doors throughout the length of the room. This room is complemented by its service areas and a large exterior terrace.Save this picture!© Sergio RíosSave this picture!Save this picture!© Sergio RíosAnother important premise is the use of certain materials that were part of the design solution. With the knowledge that the residence was going to house a great and diverse art collection, consisting mainly of paintings, it was decided that 3 main materials were to be used: a smooth and neutral finish for the walls and ceiling that wouldn’t take away the spotlight from the works of art; marble finishes for the bathrooms and the kitchen and finally a third element that distinguishes the house: the color yellow on metal elements: structural and steelwork.Save this picture!© Sergio RíosProject gallerySee allShow lessEmerge Call for Entries: Open to Students of the SADC RegionStudent CompetitionsTernion Villas / Studio ToggleSelected Projects Share “COPY” Lead Architects: “COPY” Mexico ArchDaily Architects: Estudio Santa Rita Area Area of this architecture project ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/942718/mango-house-estudio-santa-rita Clipboard Year:  Photographs:  Sergio Ríos Manufacturers Brands with products used in this architecture project Mauricio Pérez León, Marcos Torres Cocomlast_img read more

FacebookTwitterWhatsAppEmailPrintMoreShare thisFacebookTwitterWhatsAppEmailPrintMoreShare thislast_img read more

DuPont Pioneer Harvest Update 10/16/17

first_img SHARE Facebook Twitter Facebook Twitter Home News Feed DuPont Pioneer Harvest Update 10/16/17 SHARE DuPont Pioneer Harvest Update 10/16/17 DuPont Pioneer Harvest Update 10/16/17According to Ryan Martin’s harvest forecast, we will make good progress on harvest this week.  According to USDA, Indiana has 34% of the corn harvested statewide and nationally only 28% harvested, well behind last year and the 5 year average. Dan Emmert, agronomist with DuPont Pioneer in SW Indiana, told HAT that harvest progress in his area has been good, the crops are ready, and harvest is headed into the home stretch. “I would estimate about 70% of the corn has been harvested in SW Indiana,” he said and. Most of the corn planted in April has dried down nicely, he added, “On some test plots last week, we had about 20% moisture.” He noted that yields on corn and soybeans were coming in higher than expected by growers. Previous articleClosing CommentsNext articleWeed Scientist Has Doubts Over Dicamba Restrictions’ Effectiveness Gary Truitt Growers in SW Indiana are seeing some significant evidence on what the use of fungicide and monitoring nitrogen levels can have on yield. More on that in our next DuPont Pioneer Harvest update, later this week. Emmert says, this year, yields on early planted crops have been better than expected and reinforces the notion that early planting yields better, “This year, like most years, the soybeans that get planted in April yield very well. The plants tend to be a little shorter and just stand and yield better.” He said the same thing can be said for corn, “The corn we get planted in April, pollinates before it gets too hot and dry, and that is a good thing.” By Gary Truitt – Oct 16, 2017 last_img read more

College courses for Limerick jobseekers under threat

They can make a specific case in relation to their particular practices, so it’s not absolutely black and white”, the Limerick Labour Party TD explained.“This arises from general cutbacks right across the sectors over the last number of years. We simply had to get our economy right; we had to get our fiscal situation in balance and we are on target for all of that. Unfortunately there has been pain for a lot of people right across all of the employment sectors, so it’s putting that kind of measure in place, but cases can be made for exceptional situations,” added the Minister.Regarding the Springboard initiative, Minister O’Sullivan said that the Government does not intend to in any way “emasculate or stop programmes that are positive”.She added that she is “confident that we will be able to address” the issue as a result of the directive.Paul McCutcheon, vice president academic and registrar at the University of Limerick said the directive poses the college “with challenges”, but added that UL can make a business case to the Department of Education and Skills.“We do a lot of industry-facing and industry-linked programmes such as General Motors, Intel and the Springboard programmes and we are a leader in that sector. But I am reassured that we can make a business case to the Department, because we will make a very good case, and I look forward to a positive response,” he said. more than 800 places on 35 higher education courses available in Limerick funded through Springboard+ 2019 RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR Previous articleLimerick FC’s Rory Gaffney named SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers’ Association Player of the Month for AugustNext articleLimerick entrepreneur slays the Dragon with his High Nelly John Keoghhttp://www.limerickpost.ie last_img read more

Limerick man guilty of slashing 80-year-old in attempted robbery

first_imgLimerick Circuit CourtA Limerick man who slashed the forehead of an 80-year-old retired taxi driver has been remanded in custody after a jury found him guilty of attempted robbery.Following a three day trial at Limerick Circuit Court last week, Ian Murrihy (26) of O’Callaghan Avenue, Kileely was found guilty of attempting to rob Brendan Beacom on May 14, 2014.Sign up for the weekly Limerick Post newsletter Sign Up Mr Beacom, who was recovering from heart surgery, was a retired taxi driver who liked to walk in the evening as part of his recovery.Shortly after 8 pm, he was attacked near Cleeves Bank by Murrihy who knocked him to the ground. Another young man was present but did not participate in the attack.Murrihy shouted, “Give me what you have”, before pulling a knife and Mr Beacom was struck over the eye with the knife. He suffered a cut to his forehead before he managed to grab his attacker and wrestle him to the ground. The two men ran off and Mr Beacom received assistance from people who arrived at the scene.Samantha Ryan, who saw Mr Beacom after the attack, said she was walking near St Michael’s Rowing Club when she encountered a man who was “destroyed in blood”.Despite his bravery, Mr Beacom was shaking and distressed.
