Neymar future clouded, Pogba wants Utd exit

first_imgOn Monday, sports daily L’Equipe reported that PSG “would not stand in the way of him departing” and added that Neymar “also sees his future away from Paris”.Agent Pini Zahavi, involved in the deal that brought the Brazilian to the French capital from Barcelona, is said to be actively trying to do a deal to take the player back to Spain.Neymar’s two years at the Parc des Princes have been marred by injury and contoversy and he is currently again sidelined by an ankle problem while also dealing with rape allegations.PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi appeared to target Neymar when he indicated that the club’s highly-paid stars would have to shape-up or ship-out in an interview with France Football magazine.“They are not here to please themselves and if they do not agree, the doors are open. I do not want to have celebrity behaviour anymore,” he said.Perhaps Al-Khelaifi was also talking about Kylian Mbappe, PSG’s other superstar forward who last month dropped a bombshell when he hinted he might be open to a new challenge elsewhere as he picked up the Ligue 1 player of the year award.Real Madrid fans even chanted Mbappe’s name at the unveiling of Eden Hazard last week, following the Belgian’s 100 million-euro move from Chelsea. But with Real already having splashed around 300 million euros ($336 million) in the market, can they really afford a move for Neymar or Mbappe too? Meanwhile, coach Zinedine Zidane is believed to be most keen on completing a move for his compatriot Pogba.Ideally, United want to keep one of their few world class talents, even if Pogba’s performances have often fallen well short of expectations since his then world record £89 million ($112 million) signing three years ago. However, the Red Devils must now decide whether it is worth the risk to keep the Frenchman against his will or cash in to fund a rebuild.United cannot offer Pogba Champions League football next season, and much is likely to depend on what offers come their way. Madrid and Juventus have been linked, but neither are likely to come close to the reported £150 million asking price.– Raiola back in the game –Potential suitors may also be warned off by the cost of dealing with Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola.Pogba’s statement to reporters of his intention to seek pastures new on a promotional tour in Tokyo on Sunday came just days after Raiola saw a three-month ban from brokering deals lifted by FIFA.Raiola creamed off a reported £41 million from the deal that brought Pogba back to Manchester in 2016.With a season of Europa League football on the horizon and a huge rebuild needed at Old Trafford just to compete with Premier League champions Manchester City and Champions League winners Liverpool, Pogba clearly believes he can do better elsewhere.“United should not be in a position where any player, let alone an underperforming one, feels that he can call the shots. That, though, is where the past six years appear to have left them,” wrote The Times. After also being burned in big money deals for Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku, United seem keen to avoid getting in an arms race to replace Pogba should he go, even if the opportunity presents itself in what is expected to be a frantic summer of transfer activity.Antoine Griezmann has announced his intention to leave Atletico Madrid but already seems set for Barcelona.United have also played down interest in bringing Gareth Bale back to the Premier League from Madrid and seem set to be outbid by PSG to land another Raiola client in Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt.Solskjaer has instead prioritised young and hungry recruits for United, and Welsh winger Daniel James, 21, has already been snapped up from Swansea City.0Shares0000(Visited 3 times, 1 visits today) 0Shares0000Neymar future clouded as Pogba hands Man Utd tranfer headachePARIS, France, June 17 – With Paris Saint-Germain reportedly ready to listen to offers for Neymar while Paul Pogba has publicly declared that he wants a “new challenge” away from Manchester United, the summer transfer window in Europe could see considerable upheaval at several of the continent’s biggest clubs.PSG’s ongoing quest for Champions League success has seen them bring back former sporting director Leonardo, and one of the Brazilian’s first jobs could be trying to find a buyer for his compatriot, two years after PSG signed Neymar for a world record fee of 222 million euros ($264 million).last_img read more

Woman warns against cheap plugs after explosion in daughter’s bedroom

first_imgKelli Bogan has issued a warning urging people to be wary of buying cheap plugs after one exploded in her daughter’s room last night. The explosion terrified her daughter Tiyla and her friend, who are both just nine years old. Kelli told Donegal Daily that when the plug was removed from the socket, she heard a bang and her daughter began to cry. Her daughter’s friend shouted for her, and she ran up immediately.“There was smoke and a little flame coming from it, I ran for a damp towel and put it out.“The leg of the bed saved her I think, it took the full force. I got her settled after five minutes, she just kept saying I can see are dots. “I feel terrible buying a cheap plug, it could have been really serious and the house would have been on fire had I not been in.”The force of the explosion cracked the socket on the wall, and tripped all of the plugs in the house.Kelli says the plug is only about a month old and cost just €3.“It gave us such a shock and if it wasn’t for the bed being in the way it could have been worse.“I feel other parents should be warned about buying the cheaper adaptors, leads, and plugs.“I got a wile fright and I don’t want another wain frightened like wee Tiyla.”Woman warns against cheap plugs after explosion in daughter’s bedroom was last modified: August 6th, 2017 by Elaine McCalligShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:cheapelectronicsexplosionpluglast_img read more

Joburg: ‘close to a million 2010 visitors’

first_img22 July 2010 “The JTC ensured the dissemination of tourism information through existing platforms, as well as at public viewing areas and fan parks, while the City of Johannesburg trained 650 volunteers as information ambassadors, coaching them about tourism awareness, cultural diversity and knowing their city from a tourist’s perspective.” “To meet the challenges of supplying adequate tourist information services to the visitors and thereby ensuring memorable experiences for them, Joburg Tourism made a substantial investment in improving information skills, information dissemination and other service level enhancements, including the provision of information touch screens, brochures and kiosks, as well as the volunteer Know Your City programme,” said said. Website: the JTC website is constantly updated to ensure that information about the city is available electronically and is integrated with the Visitors’ Guide. The company also worked with the Johannesburg Roads Agency to make available 122 brown tourism signs for tourist attractions and public facilities throughout the city, as well as directional signs to different accommodation establishments. ProgrammesThe programmes included: Tourism cadets: with the JMPD, the tourism company trained 200 tourism cadets drawn from former commandants and unemployed youth, to focus on tourism safety and security, and visible policing. Information officers: the JTC facilitated the training of information officers at various shopping centres, including Hyde Park Shopping Centre, Maponya Mall, Rosebank Mall and Killarney Mall, and its own information staff. The Joburg Tourism Company (JTC) pulled out all the stops to ensure a memorable stay for visitors during the tournament, said Vercueil. The usefulness of the programmes has not ended with the World Cup. They have left a legacy that will allow those who were trained to continue in the field, while the signage will help residents navigate their own city better. center_img Laura Vercueil, the company’s manager of communications and public relations, said this week that while the data still needed to be properly analysed, “there is anecdotal evidence of one-million visitors to Joburg during the World Cup, comprising domestic, continental and international guests.” South Africa’s biggest, fastest-moving city, Johannesburg, had almost a million visitors during the 2010 Fifa World Cup, says the Joburg Tourism Company, adding that tourism initiatives put in place for the event would continue to benefit the city’s visitors and residents. Tour guides: with Gauteng Tourism, the JTC facilitated the training of 10 high school learners from Alexandra as tour guides during the Football for Hope Festival, which will help in their future careers in the tourism sector. Petrol pump attendants: the company trained 200 Sasol petrol pump attendants drawn from different tourist routes in Johannesburg. Information brochures: updated Johannesburg Visitors’ Guide and maps were produced for distribution to tourists. “Aside from initiatives to skill up frontline staff and tour guides, we also partnered with Sasol [the fuel company] to train petrol pump attendants to deal with tourist information requirements, as well as with the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department [JMPD] to train tourism cadets.” Source: City of Johannesburg Substantial investmentlast_img read more
